I'm not a performer, and I don't own any tuning rings myself because my
playing isn't refined enough that anyone could tell whether I was using
one or not. (So now you've been warned that I'm not an expert.....)

However, some people on this list have said that they carry a complete
set of rings of different thicknesses. I presume that switching rings
is similar to removing the mouthpiece and swabbing during a performance
--- i.e.: wait for a multi-measure rest, and don't drop anything on the
floor. Also, you do have your embouchure to make small pitch
adjustments.

Actually, I'm curious whether (say) 1 out of 10 performers carry tuning
rings in their bag, or 9 out of 10, or.... ?????
