I received my CD yesterday of Sabine Meyer playing several of the Stamitz
clarinet concertos.

The CD had the one by Johann, and No. 3, 10, and 11 by Karl.

They are beautiful and sound like a lot of fun.

I can't believe I have never heard them before now. That probably tells most
of you how small my home town was when I was learning to play clarinet.

The thing that gets me, I was stationed in the Army in Heidelberg, Germany
which is about 15 miles from Mannheim. From what I have read, this may be
the first city in which the clarinet was used in an orchestra and the
Stamitz concertos might have been influenced by them. I can't believe I
missed this!

My question is which ones are the most popular and are there any special
editions I need to look for?

I understand that Johann only wrote one concerto, but his son Karl looks to
have written eleven.

I have done a search of the archives and found some numbering issues that
came up immediately, so the numbering appears to be different by Boese.

I would like to avoid some of this confusion when purchasing the sheet
music.
