The head of Boosey and Hawkes was in Toronto some years ago. One of the
things he said was suggested to him by their experts, was to grease the tip
of the top joint. Makes some sense since there are pores there through which
dampness can enter.
Just an idea.No guarantee against a crack. But might help. Abe Galper
