At the store I teach at it is recommended that you not spend more than 15
minutes
on each session. This allows the Clarinet to absorb the moisture slowly.
You may experience
some swelling in the tenon joints which will make it more difficult to put
the Clarinet together. If
this should happen, than take it to the store that you bought it at to have
the technician make
an adjustment as soon as possible. After a couple of weeks you may increase
the sessions a little, perhaps up to a half an hour, but I would swab the
Clarinet out every 10 minutes.

Unfortunately, in the area of break in, you end up in the area of folklore
and many opinions will be brought forth. This is what has worked for me,
and I have not heard of a lot of Clarinets being brought back to the store
because of cracking.
