<><> I can't imagine selling an instrument without a case.

It happens. My Howarth was a used instrument from a matched pair (Bb &
A). The Bb had split and been pinned, but it met --- and still meets
--- my needs when other instruments didn't. So I bought it, but the
owner kept the double case, and I had none.

I carried my pride-and-joy in a cardboard box, wrapped in a dish cloth,
for more than a month because I wanted a particular hard case and the
mail order house shipped the wrong item twice before they finally got it
right.

Now my frustration is that my spherical bell (and probably my spherical
barrel, when it arrives) can't be squeezed into my case --- not even if
I enlarge the cavities in the foam.

So until I invest in a bigger case, I'm back to carrying loose parts
again.

As I say, it happens........

Cheers,
Bill
