Neil says: <<Then you happen to be the type of person who is inclined to accept a product out of the box, as it were, without the desire to tweak the standard configuration to see if it can be customized to your specific desires.>>

Au contraire, as is readily apparent to anyone who knows me.

I have personally made over 50 clarinet barrels, from many different materials, and with different bore tapers; some of which I have sold, some I have kept, and many I have destroyed.

My "personal best" barrel is made of Cocobolo, is about 65.5 mm in length and has a revised "Moennig" style bore. It works quite nicely on my Selmer 10 G Bb clarinet and helps tame shapness in high B and C while still maintaining a quality, focused tone.

I'm trying to make a better one.

What I was saying, is;

1.)that the crop of custom barrels which will fit on Buffets, Selmers, Yamahas, etc, will not work on a Rossi and;

2.) That's not a bad thing, it's just a fact.

3.) The barrels I did see from Mr. Rossi seemed extremely well made.

If someone, other than Mr. Rossi, such as Mr. Backun can make a better barrel for Rossi clarinets, more power to him!

Walter
