Clarinets with articulated C#/G# keys have this feature. In addition to
the advantage you describe, it also allows you to get a little sloppy when
reaching for the left pinky F/C key. If you accidentally also hit the
C#/G#, as long as you have right hand fingers down, the pad will not
lift. Unfortunately, the articulated C#/G# is getting to be a rare
thing. I have been enjoying the feature on a recently-acquired old Selmer
BT, probably soon to become my regular big band clarinet. If only it would
fit in the Selmer traypack case. The lower joint must be longer to
accommodate the extra mechanism.

If you have to mic a saxophone, the rest of the band is TOO LOUD!
