The reality though of pricing for me purchasing either one through IMS is a
$1500.

That's quite a difference in price.

Both of these prices are discounted so I don't see how they are similar as
you suggest unless you would refer to the Festival's retail price vs. The
Prestige's discounted price. Then perhaps they would be close.

I don't know of anyone buying a clarinet at retail any more these days with
the advent of the Internet, so I feel there really is a signifigant price
difference between the two models.

Is this entirely a marketing ploy? The Festivals supposedly do not use
copper pre plating, and a less selective wood. The playing differences as
pointed out by David may not justify the Prestige's extra money.
