Tom,

If you are not getting an identical brand/model A
clarinet of the Bb you already have, why not try out
all the Buffet models, but *in addition to* the
Selmers, LeBlancs, Yamahas, Patricolas, Howarths,
Eatons, Rossis, etc. For that kind of investment, I
think it would be a good thing to go to the store and
try out as many as you can, and then bring home 3 or 4
to try out for a week. If you have no problem with the
price of the Prestiges, then you are in the range of
ALL of the major makers instruments, including their
top of the line models.

If you have never tried the other brands, you might
like some of them better, and not know it.

I own and have owned in the past many Buffet Prestige
models, both R13 and RC in Bb and A, and like them,
but was fairly taken back by the lines of a few other
clarinet makers at Clarinetfest...enough that the
Buffet instruments didn't stand out like they did in
my mind.

Try models that are like the R13, and then try ones
that are NOTHING like the R13. It's the only way you
will know what's best for you. That's how I found out
the R13s and the least conducive to giving me the
playing feel that I like.
