Klarinet Archive - Posting 000552.txt from 2002/04

Just a note. No executable virus has made it through the list. A
non-executable virus made it through on April 2 (the headers on the message
were OK, but there was a separate section that had the virus. The headers
were not correct so it was ignored.)

Viruses sent by list members to other people are, by definition, out of my
control. The list of Klarinet email addresses is not available to anyone
except the list managers, so the addresses can't be hijacked, either.

Mark,

I am a newbie on your website. After just a couple of days (OK, close to a
week), I appreciate the work you have done and the humor and information
available on this site.

Unfortunately, I was struck by a virus yesterday from one of the list
members. I cannot remember his name, but the title on the e-mail was
"Frame", and the e-mail itself appeared to be empty.

This is a type of virus that perpetuates itself by sending out e-mails
automatically.

Unfortunately, I cannot risk further attacks. So I will have to
un-subscribe from the mailing list. I will continue with the digests, at
least as long as I have the confidence that they are virus-free.

Thanks, Mark. I am sorry to report this, but I think you should know. I
will not post this to the klarinet website, but you are free to do so.

Regards, Michael Shippey, Ph.D.
