Following your advice, I asked my doctor (who happens to be a
clarinetist) to prescribe Clarinex for my affliction. He told me that
Clarinex comes in two pill versions: A and Bb. If you are playing the A
clarinet, you take the A pill; if you are playing the Bb clarinet, you
take the Bb pill. At present, there is no prescription available for Eb
and bass clarinets. When he has to play either one of the latter two
instruments, he takes both pills and waits until he hears double tones.
At that very instant of heightened auricular acuity, he can then select
and play either instrument, knowing that the correct sound will always
out. I wonder why my doctor doesn't get as many gigs these days!

Anyhow, to make a long story short, I took a Bb pill, played the Bb
clarinet, and the double tones disappeared. Unfortunately, however, I
now have double vision. Does this mean that I can qualify as a doubler?
