I'm not sure what portion he is playing, it would an allegro movement
He is not one of my students. He is a student of Joe Eller,
who is the Clarinet instructor at Kennesaw State. He also studies with
Laura Ardan, Principal Clarinetist
with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, on occasion. I had the opportunity to
hear him the other day and
I was quite impressed with the ability he displayed. He has an excellent
tone, and decent facility. He moves
across both breaks effortlessly. I teach private lessons at the school he
attends and was amazed the first time I heard him 8 months ago. I was
standing outside the band hall and heard a great sounding Clarinet. I
walked into the room
expecting to see a senior, but instead, saw a small 5th grader. I would say
he was playing on the level of a High School Sophomore or Junior, without
the ego. His family is going to move to the New York area and he will be
studying with Jon Manasse next year.
