I'm glad someone else has had their clarinet problem interfere with real
life. When I was in college, I was talking to a bunch of my classmates about
a class project we were doing which involved fast food restaurants. We were
talking about that food bar in the center of the restaurant, you know, the
BUH-FAY. And while I normally pronounce it that way when talking about food
bars, for some reason while sort of talking out loud in a class discussion,
I called it, you guessed it, a BOO-FAY, like the clarinet brand. I only said
it once that way, but for some reason it struck a couple of people as the
funniest thing they had ever heard. I never did get their attention back.

And I knew that there was going to be no explaining it, so I wisely (for
once) just kept going.
