Hello List -

I'd like to let you know about our clarinet choir concert, Sunday April
28th, which will be held at Central Presbyterian Church in Hamilton,
Ontario. We are a 9 "voice" choir, including Eb, Bb, Eb alto, Bb bass,
Eb contra-alto / Bb contra bass Fellow Klarinet list member Larry
Paikin is also in the choir, as are a couple of
"lurkers" (hi guys). The group is The Upper Canada Clarinet Choir, all
adult amateur players; we have been together since late summer 2000.

There will be two highlights in this concert -
We will be playing the World Premiere of "Fantasy Piece for Clarinet
Ensemble", a suite of four small pieces which was written for us by
David Trainer, Sydney, Australia. I'm particularly excited about this,
because we "met" David through Sneezy.org; he has dedicated the work to
us, and through extensive e-mail correspondence, we are learining what
his "intentions" are - performance notes, practice hints etc. It's a
real thrill to work with a composer, even long distance, to develop the
idea for a new work.

The second highlight is an arrangement of the Mozart Quintet - one of
our Choir members has had this arrangement in his basement since the
early '60's. The string parts are arranged for Bb, Eb alto, and bass
clarinets. It is quite exciting to play.
