I think the easiest way to explain slap tongue is to allude to the Bass
guitar.

One of the most common playing techniques is called "Picking" (AKA Slap
). What do it boil down to, plucking the strings with a vengeance. I see
my brother do it all the time, and the Bassist for our Jazz band is a pro
at it.

So on bass clarinet, its basically turning what would be a calmly tongued
note into a sharper and louder Staccato.

I can't really think of any other way to explain it.
