If its the piece I'm thinking of then I played it for an audition in 8th
grade. The general consensus was that you were to choose the appropriate
tempo for each of the two movements keeping in mind that an Aria is a
slow sometimes lamenting tune and a scherzo is faster and usually
dance-like. Hope this helps.
