It is entirely possible that the B45 you have is defective. Also, it is
more than likely that the reeds that work on your other mouthpiece will NOT
work on this one. I have no squeaking problems at all with B45's, but I do
find that they play flat for me in the altissimo. A recently acquired
Selmer Balanced Tone with a sharp altissimo matches it perfectly, though,
so I have been playing it much more lately. I have been using mostly
Vandoren (blue box) 2 1/2's on it. B45's have a relatively LONG facing,
and that could be making some of the difference for you.
