In my opinion, the most significant piece written for clarinet in the 1990's
was the Clarinet Concerto by George Rochberg. It was
commissioned by the Philadelphia Orchestra for its principal clarinetist
Anthony Gigliotti and premiered in 1996. It has been recently recorded by
Anthony Gigliotti himself with the Taipei Symphony Orchestra, and the CD is
scheduled to be released this summer. I'm sure you can find some information
about it on the Internet or in the library.
