Subj: [kl] Buffet Greenline Clarinets

I talked with Ann Marie this afternoon at International Musical Suppliers as
I am looking to buy an A clarinet.

I currently own a Buffet Bb Festival Greenline as well as an Eaton Bb
International clarinet.

I love the Eaton, but don't have that kind of money to spend on an A
clarinet, so I naturally was asking her about the Festival Greenline in A.

I also am wanting to try some Yamaha A clarinets as I have heard they are
very well made and play well in tune, but that's another thread.

To make a long story short, Ann Marie told me that Buffet Greenline
clarinets are not being made right now because the one of a kind machine
that Buffet made to manufacture them is broken. Evidently they inquired as
to why they could not get any right now. Nobody can.

On top of that, she also told me that the Buffet factory has just moved to a
new location.

Top this off with the fact that Boosey and Hawks is up for sale and it
begins to look interesting. She didn't give an explanation as to why they
would move their factory now, maybe this has been planned for a while and
they were needing a more modern facility.

Has anyone on the list heard anything about Buffet's state of affairs
lately? I really had my heart set on a Greenline A.
