Subj: [kl] Cool Clarinet Concert
Date: Sat, 6 Apr 2002 21:37:22 -0500

If you are in Seattle tomorrow afternoon with nothing better to do, you
could spend an hour or two with Philharmonia Northwest at Town Hall.
Details at http://www.philharmonianw.org.

Chris Sereque (principal clarinet of the Seattle Symphony) will be
performing Bruch's concerto for clarinet and viola; the viola soloist is his
spouse, Ruth Sereque. The Bruch is a charming little concerto, hitherto
unknown to me.

Also on the menu will be Ives' Second Symphony and Finzi's Romanze (nice
piece but alas, no clarinet parts).

We had our dress this morning - Chris sounds great, despite a late night in
the pit for Salome (which he has to do again tonight - quite a warm-up!) It
should be a good show.
