They are pretty tough to play. However most of the fast stuff actually lays
really well under the fingers. They were originally written for sax, but I
can only imagine how difficult they would be for that instrument. I think
they are much easier on clarinet.

I see them sort of the same genre of etude that the Chopin etudes are for
piano. They are very difficult etudes that work well as concert pieces.
I'm a pretty good sight reader, but they still require a sizable commitment
of time to learn.
