Well, if this is only recent and you find it more irritating than other
transpositions, I'd guess publishers are including Bb versions of parts
originally for C and are now leaving out the original part. I've actually
had a couple of pieces show up on my stand over the last couple of years in
Bb versions that were (I'd played them from older printings) originally for
A clarinet. When I asked the librarian, she showed me the list of parts - no
A clarinet to be found!
