Thanks to those of you who offered your suggestions about memorizing music! So many good ideas. :) I guess I was headed in the right direction with my own way of trying it -- mostly by visualizing the music in my mind, or trying to really "feel" the music as I was reading it (a la finger memory?). Currently I am working on Brahms' Sonata No. 1 and though I don't have immediate plans to perform publicly, I would like to start memorizing it anyway. It seems to me that literally having the music *inside* you must be a great advantage while performing...
