I am NOT ignorant about the oboe world, as you said.
The reason I mentioned Laubin was NOT a good place to
refer someone for that kind of work was precisely
because of the fact that they have a 3 year waiting
list, and the Laubin establishment only works on
Laubin oboes and english horns. The reason I mentioned
Paul Covey was because his shop can squeeze in people
more readily than any other custom oboe maker I know
of in North America. That was my motivation...

I don't really don't care to know how much more you
know about oboes, because you missed my point in my
initial posting, which says to me, regardless of
whether you know more about oboes or not, you don't
read the whole posting and then just post babble about
non related things. Considering I was just posting a
*possible* connection for someone else to get help, I
really am taken back by how abrupt your first message
was, as were all the subsequent messages. You have
called me ignorant, and have referred to the oboes
that Paul Covey produces as "not as marketable" simply
because they don't deal with www.mmimports.com (which
you said is who you are with.)

Just because they don't deal with your company
www.mmimports.com doesn't make the manufacturer bad.
So Paul Covey doesn't use distributors to market his
instruments. LOTS of custom makers don't use
distributors so they can LIMIT their output to a
small, finely produced instrument that they have a
hand in making, as apposed to a shop person making the
whole instrument, and then stamping the founder's name
on it. LAUBIN doesn't sell through you either? I don't
think many oboists would argue their place as one of
the better oboe makers in the oboe world.

By the way, while you are mentioning Paul Covey not
having time or know-how to work on clarinets, he has
made clarinet barrels in the past that have been
popular and has done clarinet overhauls, etc. I think
that would qualify him for the work, or at least give
him the chance to be asked whether it is in his time
allowances to do work like that.

You should read the original posts more completely and
post less, if you can't take the time to respond to
what was asked in the post. Since you said you won't
respond to my posts anymore, I guess I can go back to
my regular postings without the backlash.
