I know we had had a debate about Paul Covey adding keys or modifying keys on
a Clarinet. Regardless is Mr. Covey will work on your clarinet or not the
fact remains that oboes normally do not have rollers. I have often thought
that rollers on my oboes/Ehglish horn and oboe d'amore were work well on the
right hand pinky cluster (C, C# Eb) . I also play bassoon and Contrabassoon.
In the basson world you are either a "roller person" or not!!. I am having
rollers added to both of my Contra bassoon thumb keys. Therefore, it would
seem logical to asked a professional bassoon repairman/ restoration expert to
add roller to your clarinet. I ship my bassoons to Keith Bowen in Seattle.
Keith trained at the Fox factory on professional basoon production and then
went into business for himself. I'm sure he would give you an estimate for
clarinet rollers. He often has to fabricate keys to restore very old bassoon.
He does excellent work.
