Paul Covey MAKES instruments of his own design, and
does custom oboe work, so I can't imagine why he
wouldn't be available (or someone in his shop, for
that matter) to add an alternate key to the G#/C#,
which would NOT add another hole, but just another
opening mechanism for the instrument with an added
key. The oboe or english horn key would already ne
created and molded, and would just have to be added to
the already existing mechanism.

By the way, Paul will do an overhaul on a student line
oboe. He doesn't only work on premium or professional
instruments.

Tom Hiniker makes the best English horn boclas on the market today and is an
excellent oboist/Heckelphonist. I have 6 oboes of the "premium variety" plus
a bass oboe and a piciolo oboe. I just arranged a workshop for Covey and Pat
McFarland ( the Englsh hornist of the ASO and the man I study EH under). I
once took a student model oboe (value at 1500.00) to Covey and he said it was
not worth his time. Perhaps if your are his friend he will work on your
clarinet and yes he makes his own oboes but they are not really popular amd
I've beem playing for 20 years and in Atlanta for 15 of them.
