I should probably wait for the experts to chime in, but my take on C
clarinets (strictly 2nd hand) is that they are typically not as "dialed-in"
as their Bb brethren because the market is very thin for them. That said, if
you have the money and the opportunity to try a few so as to get a good one,
I think it'd be a nice thing to have in your bag if you don't want to learn
transposition. For the purposes intended (mainly ensemble work) I think the
better ones are adequate. Seems like I've heard good things about the
LeBlancs.

My own proudest transposition moment was when I recently played the alto
part in a church hymn "arrangement" (a director threw in a last minute tune)
on my Bb without making a mistake. That's about how good I am. :-)
