Ditto the blowing warm air routine - swab just before going up, and if
you're playing more than one number, swab between. I played a recital
recently at a rather excessively air conditioned hall with poor humidity
control, and found myself in that precarious pre-gurgle stage after the
first of Finzi's "5 Bagatelles," which is not a very long piece. When I
listened to the playback, that characteristic almost-wrong-note-gargling
sound was not in evidence, but I could definately *feel* it getting
stuffy/gurgly.

Point is, it can build up pretty quickly in a cold room.
