Subj: [kl] Bifocals

I use bifocals in my orchestral/band work. They are for playing only, with
the split line set very high on the lens. The bottom 3/4 of the lens is set
for music reading. My everyday glasses are Varilux, a form of blended lens.
The don't really work well for playing because going from the bottom of a
page to the top of the next forces me to raise my head too high. They'll do
in a pinch, but the bifocals are much better.

I once saw a trumpet player in one of the major orchestras wearing glasses
with a rather big monocular on his left eye. Strange looking, but for him
it worked.
