I think you will just have to allow the conductor to be slightly out of
focus. I had to go to bifocals some years ago and I wear the progressive
lenses since I don't want to look like I'm wearing bifocals. You are right
that the focus area for working on music. I have a pair of single vision
glasses set for the distance of my music stand. That was the only way to
keep the music from going out of focus from shifting my head or body. Thus
the conductor is fuzzy but unless he has very small motions in conducting, I
have not found it to be a problem.
