In my experience the altissimo notes are not a problem on the alto
clarinet, even a cheap one. (It is the middle register that is the problem.)

I believe you are a bass clarinet player, correct? So you know about the
pinhole on the first left hand finger key. Have you checked to see if it
plugged up? Also, as you would on a bass clarinet, consider using throat
register fingerings with the register key. F#@-----.
