I read the list in digest form, so trying to cover all the bases...

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know how some of the

Chiming in because my first horn, which I still have and use as a gig horn
playing in a dance band, is a Noblet. As you can imagine, I don't have to
play it pp-ppp much in that context. As I recall when I played it in high
school, the throat notes and esp. the Bb were not very good compared to my
R-13, esp. in softer dynamics. Intonation okay, but relatively raspy. Before
anyone chimes in with "well, duh," I'll say it for you - the difference is
nothing more or less than you would expect from an intermediate horn, which
the Noblet is at best, vs. a benchmark grade pro horn.

But overall, I'd say the Noblet did all right in the softer dynamics. I did
some solo and ensemble work in high school, and I think the tone was pretty
good. I have some students with Noblets right now, and I think it's one of
the strongest choices in its price range.

Note to Rachel - has someone gotten on to you about your sig? If so, shame
on them, not you. Free speech should cover all views, and if we can allow
the humorous/ribald (and I think we should), than surely a bible verse won't
kill us.
