Agreed. But when you change a frequency in order to temper it, you
are adding or subtracting, and then the logical problems begin. Fred's
original comment was (more or less): "Why are you wrong if your meter
says that you are right?" and I felt, perhaps mistakenly, that the
difference between addition and multiplication was missing from the
conversation.

My remark about moving the holes while playing seemed humorous to me at
the time, but it was out of place.
