Kent,

FWIW, I currently play semi-professionally on a Paul Dupre Bb clarinet that
my parents bought for me in 1953 for $175 that they didn't have to spare.
I've had ample opportunities to upgrade to a Buffet, LeBlanc, Selmer, etc.,
but I couldn't part with my ratty old teddy bear. The wood has never cracked
despite years of unwitting thermal abuse. The bore, oiled once in the late
'50s, is starting to show checking. The touchpieces and bands at the end of
the joints have long since lost their nickel (chromium? silver?) plating and
are now either dull base metal or burnished by my regular use. This is by no
means a top-of-the-line instrument, but with a B45 mouthpiece it sounds
pretty good. Needless to say, it's not for sale.;-)

Best regards.

Stan
