I know Mark will correct me if I'm wrong ;-) but my understanding is
that one photocopy for personal use/study which is less than the whole
work (one part out of many in this case) is not illegal.

What is also interesting is that orchestras who bought up as many of
those Russian orchestral works, and Ravel, Debussy etc, for the brief
time that they were in the public domain now seem to "own" them, and have
no difficulties with using them. Interesting.

Given the easy availability of computer programs like Finale, this should
now be less of a problem.
