Annie,
I'll throw out a few thoughts, if I may (ouch!):

Giorgio Koukl: "Divertimento per quintetto di fiati" ca 8'00" (publ.
Mnemes/Alfieri & Ranieri)

Charles Knox: "Woodwind Quintet" ca 10'20" (publ. Lux Nova Press, but
"in production")

I believe there are audio tracks available for both, though I know there
have been some "composer's changes" to the Knox piece since the premiere
concert recording some years ago.

and Neely Bruce has a couple of pieces for "quintet" scored for the
non-standard ensemble of "flute, clarinet, english horn, bass clarinet,
and bassoon." (Currently unpublished, to the best of my knowledge).
One has the clarinet doubling on Eb clarinet and the bass clarinet
doubling on regular Bb clarinet on occasion.

I can also suggest some pieces for woodwind quartet/quintet plus piano
(inquire about these by private e-mail, please) from several composers.

The combination Neely Bruce uses interest me, as I have heard from
composers who have an aversion to "standard woodwind quintet" because
they perceive a difficulty of balancing the ensemble due to inclusion of
horn. (Last year I asked a handful of composers about their music (or
writing something new) for woodwind quintet and piano, and was a bit
surprised at that occasional negative response. Frankly, I like the
horn itself (generally speaking), though I did once write a short
quintet piece that substituted alto saxophone in that slot. I also
understand these composers' concepts concerning balance
issues--understanding not being same as agreement to avoid the
instrumentation.)

Any opinions on broad practicality of Neely Bruce's combination (or
interest)?

Cheers,
