Stan Geidel responded to my post and I quote from his website:

I remember, too, how popular the Vic Olivieri reeds were. These also were
fine reeds. Many, including myself, felt the Olivieri cane was not quite as
good as the Morre cane, but for a few years, the Olivieri reeds were the
reeds of choice for many, many players.

Patricia:

Wow do *I* feel sheepish! :O

I have some samples of both the Mozarts and the Gonzales' reeds from Davie
cane. And I still purchase the Oliveiris when I can. Sometimes it is easy
to get caught up in "reed fever"!
Thanks, Stan, for getting me back down to earth!

btw, I never have said this: great website, and very informative. Thanks for
your fine writing. I point people to OCR whenever I get the chance.
