Subj: [kl] Eb Clarinet Reeds (RE: Reed question)

The best thing I have found so far in regards to Eb clarinet reeds is
using my older Bb reeds. I take an Exacto knife to shorten the bottom
and then reduce their width by sanding either side. Make sure not too
ruin the reed shape by taking off too much from the tip and rails. Keep
most of the pressure away from that end of the reed when sanding. It
will take a little getting used to but I think you will like the results
when you do.

Sincerely,
Stephanie

|
|Thank you for your honest answer regarding reeds.
|
|I am truly maturing in my playing and it has taken me this long to do
|so. I believe I am about to embark upon a great reed discovery.
|
|It is interesting that you mention the V12s because I'm still not sure
|that they will do me well with my Pyne mouthpiece. I was told that
|Glotin reeds are more suited for my Pyne mouthpiece. I've also been
|told that the WhiteMaster reeds are great for Eb Clarinet.
|
|There are certain reed brands that I am asking about to narrow down my
|search. As I was telling another list member, I don't want to have
|lived and never tried anything except Vandorens.
