Well, it happened. I needed to look something up and discovered that the
"free" access to the New Groves Online I reported a couple of weeks back is
gone. Time to run to the library ... it was about time to get a library card
here in Austin, Texas, anyway.

Hmmm ... look online to find the closest branch ... what?? If you have a
library card (issued free) you have free access to The New groves and the
Groves Opera and (fill in a lot of blanks) from home?

It works - you just log in to the library system from home, type in your
card number, and voila' - you're in!

I heartily recommend that people check their local library system and see
what's available now. I did a little checking for those of you whose library
doesn't have access. The Free Library of Philadelphia will issue a
non-resident card for $15/yr and you'll have access to a large number of
references online. So even if you live in Lampasas (which, by the way _does_
have a very good BBQ restaurant) you can log in.
