It was an objective statement, meant merely to point out that his
instrument did not go down to low C, in contrast to every other pro-
fessional bass player's instrument at the festival. That this should
be viewed as an obstacle is your spin on it. It clearly did not im-
pact this player's ability to demonstrate a whole new level of virtu-
osity. Naturally, he wouldn't have been able to play any written
D's, Db's, or C's, had his music called for those notes.
