I'm of the mindset of Robert. I think maturity has a lot to do with is.
During undergrad, vocal majors would tease instrumental majors by is it
the player or the equipment. I said that to say I knew such a gifted
professor that player every instrument and he had a very mature sound on
anything he played. So, I guess it's the player and not the equipment.
For nostalgia reasons, I still have my beginner clarinet and I'm able
to get quite a mature sound on it. I have it overhauled every so often
but I keep the bore oiled and everything cleaned. I kind of hate to
part with it because it's seasoned now.

Still no word on the Evolution, Eddie Daniels or Buffet reeds? There's
got to be someone out there who's tried either of them.
