What is the forte of the V12s anyway?

Physically, they are thicker. I happen to like them better than the
others that I've played.

But.... any further description involves metaphor, and hence discussion
has very little value. You need to buy a few and listen to them
yourself. Do they give you what you want? If yes, then buy some
more.

As someone else commented, there's no sense in trying to describe a reed
with words. If we were discussing automobiles, then we could debate
what horsepower you need, how many seats a particular vehicle has, and
so forth. But with reeds (and with instruments for the most part), you
have to play them yourself and listen and decide what you like.

It happens that just last night (and this is the truth) I asked a world
class performer to play my reed on my clarinet with my mouthpiece and my
ligature, and I listened. Guess what? He didn't sound like me. So
which of us is playing the 'wrong' equipment?

Cheers,
Bill
