Hello fellow Klarinet members,

As many of you know, the main reason I left the Metropolitan Opera
Orchestra was to devote more time to composition. I thought I'd tell you
about my latest.

On the evening of 9/11, I began work on my first symphony, mostly to work
through the feelings of anger, shock, sadness, confusion, and frustration
and the 100s of others I was feeling. That's one of the benefits of
creating: you get to bring up all your confused feelings, and make some
sort of sense of them through creation. My hope is that people hearing my
music can be moved in similar ways - a particularly strong hope with this
work. I finished it in late January, and recently completed a
midi-orchestra performance of it. Excerpts can be heard at
www.mp3.com/911Symphony/ Profits (if it ever makes any) will be donated
to relief charities.

I thought some of you might like to hear it. Please let me know how you
feel about it.

Thank you,

Sean Osborn
