I also suggest taking these simple triads and playing them in an inverted
fashion. Most players have no problem rapidly playing triads 1-3-5 but
3-5-1 for example (C major, E-C-G) can present new challenges. Not only is
inversion study good for technique but it's helpful in training the ear to
hear various intervals. Run these little triplet exercises ascending and
descending (5-1-3 or 3-5-1, etc.)chromatically and in the circle of 4ths and
5ths and you will discover if you don't know already that simple triads
aren't so simple.
