My pre-owned R13 developed this problem in humid weather. (I should note
that while the instrument was well used, the barrel was nearly new, since
the previous owner used a different barrel by choice.) The combination was
fine in the winter, but stuck in the summer, although never so badly that I
couldn't remove it. (Then again, I have strong hands.) So perhaps keeping
it in a dry place for a while would help?

BTW, I found that with time, the wood-wood contact wore down, and I have no
problem with it now.
