The real problem is the bandwidth used by people like this - we currently
have 559 users on the regular list. Messages average around 2K, so every
message causes about 1.5 Mbytes to be sent/received over the wire (there's
overhead w/ every message ...) When someone starts a little loop like that
it eats up all the available bandwidth I've purchased and the machine
starts getting behind in deliveries - for no good reason.
Add to that the people who receive the digest (406 people) - which will
get fired off when the backlog of messages starts building - and we have a
real mess - the digests are normally about 30K in size.
Right now the Klarinet list has more people receiving emails than I've seen
before (965) ... I hadn't looked in a while.
