Subj: [kl] Chipped/Cracked Tenons-Yay!

I have good news! It appears that my panic yesterday may have been a bit
hasty. Today I took my horn to my lesson and showed it to my teacher. He
shrugged, took the thing upstairs, and put some Superglue on the tenon to
seal the crack and hold the chip in place. He told me taht if I really
wanted to be complete about it, I could have a metal ring put on, but that
if it were his horn he probably wouldn't bother. I suppose my eye for
detecting fatal damage is somewhat lacking :)

After the repair was done, I couldn't detect any difference in the way the
thing played, so it looks like I dodged a bullet here. The terror of
seeing that crack and that chip just set me off, I guess. Many, many
thanks to those who so kindly responded to me! I think I will also look
into the insurance, though, as this was too close a call (at least to my
mind) for comfort. Again, thank you all for your help!
