Subject: [kl] Elderly Begiinner?

In U.K. there are evening adult classes run by the local edu. authority. I
believe there will be special discounted rates for the elderly. I mention
this system as opposed to "real" private lessons because this person might
be at some disadvantage with private lessons, if the teacher is not familiar
with the "ways" of the elderly. The "pupil" will also be "alone" in his
"struggle" (bad word to use) to practise and improve. Whereas at evening
classes, if he is mobile enough, he will meet others who will be
experiencing the same struggle, thereby enabling him to share, and also into
the bargain to meet other new people and friends. It might also be just
possible that this adult teacher may be more suitably and appropriately
trained to teach this age group. I suspect that most of the class could be
over 50. I have had experience myself, and would vouch for this way, "the
social way", as the way forward in your friend`s case.
Best of luck,
Tony W.
