Martin Powell said, <<How often do you recommend students to have their
instruments serviced? What is a fair price to charge? I want to find the
balance of what is best for the student and what is best for their
instruments! Not what is best for the shops!>>

Hmm. *Looking with wry grin* How about whenever they feel like it and
free? ;-)

Hey now...someone had to say it. Why not me?!

But seriously, start from there, add on the raw costs and simply tack on
what you feel is the minimum profit you want to make off of this service.
To heck with the other competing shops if they "insist" on charging more to
make more. If you are happy with the profit you squeeze out of the service,
then great! The students and parents will be grateful that you are an
honest business man.

Of course...I don't have my own business. So....
