Richard Stoltzman has recorded the Arpeggione twice, with Peter Serkin on an
Orion LP, ORS 73125 and with Emmanuel Ax on an RCA LP, ACR1-4825. I think
both have been reissued on CD. The Orion version was his first solo
recording and is "straighter" than the one with Ax. Gervase de Peyer has
also recorded it on a Chandos CD CHAN 8506.

I worked up the Bellison edition on bass clarinet and played it at a music
party a few years ago. It's absolutely gorgeous on the instrument. You need
a very responsive setup. The solo part goes up to a high A, there are wide
leaps that are easy by crossing strings but hard make sound easy on bass, and
the long bowed phrases mean you have to be really economical with air.
Still, it's head and shoulders above any other solo for bass and practically
demands to be done.

Best regards.

Ken Shaw
